Motivation to Run: No Problem

I don't have any training partners right now!

It's not that I'm antisocial! It's just that I am just getting started and I have a work schedule that would drive any training partner crazy. It's a combination of 12 and 8 hours shifts, 40 hours a week, every 3rd weekend and I alternate 3 weeks of days then 3 weeks of nights. It's the life of a critical care nurse.

That said, I know that I will meet up with people to train with at least part of the time.

In the meantime, I want to share with you my short run path. It is 1.25 miles long. It is the path I am using right now until my runs are longer and I started venturing out further away from home. Three times around and I have run a longer distance than the short course on race day July 14th.

You can see why it is easy to be motivated to run this time of the year.

What is amazing to me, and perhaps to you as well, is that I am only 8 miles from each downtown (Minneapolis and St. Paul).

I think a long winter of brown and white (except the evergreens of course) makes me appreciate spring and summer even more! Why is it that we have to miss something to appreciate it so much?

Does anybody else want to share some of the sights that you get to experience while running or bike riding! I would love to see them!

  1. Hi! You have to come to the Wed am swim in Lake Minnewashta (at the Gunther's house), and the Wed night ride from Minnetonka (6pm) - you'll have a million training partners to choose from!
    BEautiful trail, btw...

  2. Hi there! Thanks for popping by my new blog. I am participating in the Liberty 1/2 and am signed up Sunday for the Manitou Sprint. Not sure if Manitou will happen.....we'll see.
Buffalo is a pretty nice race and it's growing. I would recommend adding it to the list of local tri's to try. :-)
    Welcome to the tri community!

  3. Thanks Jenny and T,

Jenny, It's not likely that I can make it for the swims. I only have 1 Wednesday off every 6 weeks. But once I have a wet suit, maybe I can at least show up once in a while.

I will show up for some cycling though. Does that also start at the Gunther's house?
