4th of July and Minneman!

Well, I don't have any pictures, so you may subscribe to the theory that none of this happened.

But I had me some fun the last couple of days.

First of all, to any of you that have met Trimama, Tacman and the infamous tribe, know that you can't fail from accepting an invitation to celebrate with them. Just ask my kids; with plenty of little ones, food, watergunfights and fireworks that are right above you, Independence day was "fantastic!" according to my oldest daughter.

I had the pleasure of shooting the ... uh, well, talking with Bob, IronJenny's hubby or T-storms, whom I haven't seen since volunteering at IMmoo, or a family member or friend whom I had never met before. I just love getting to know people better in a fun setting. And although I never need beer to be sociable, having a couple just doesn't hurt.

So we are home shortly after midnight and before I know it, I'm wide awake at 6:40. This is significant for two reasons. 1) I seem to just want to sleep, sleep, sleep since the fractures and 2) I had time to drive to and watch Minnesota's favorite sprint triathlon; Minneman! I wanted my son to come along, and to my surprise, he did. I did have add in a little lunch at SpaceAliens.

Anyway, we were there by the 4th wave of swimmers taking off. We went to the volunteer tent and before I know it, I'm helping Jerry, our infamous tri-announcer, set up and prepare for the finish line. My son, was the results runner. He took the results from the van and posted them as they were updated for all the see. I had the fun of giving everybody there results. It was easy, all I had to do enter there race # and a paper printed out giving them their splits, t-times and final times.

Have you ever heard of volunteering being thankless? Well, not this job. So here I am being thanked by everybody, including some Minnesota triathlon celebreties like the Cathy Yndestad, David Thompson, Julie Hull and Samuel Hauck. There was also a Sara that was impressive but I forget her last name as well as many other impressive athletes. Cathy Y has a blog that I read sometimes, so I know that her step daughter was racing her first race. Watch out world, another rockstar is going to be around soon.

Location, Location, Location. Before I know it, I'm helping pick winners for the bike as well as just throwing out numbers for gift receipts at one of our sponsored local running stores, Marathon Sports. (Marathon, you know owe me money for plugging you, I'll send a bill). I'm glad that I'm used to making a fool of myself. Calling numbers of racers that are no longer present over the microphone for everybody to hear is just so ever anti-climatic. Jerry and Bill (the race director) adjusted and we started giving winners to the number closest to what I called.

I had fun, my son had fun, we stuffed ourselves for lunch and we had the satisfaction of volunteering.

I was suppose to have raced though! Sigh!

Ok, I'm over it.

On to watching lifetime next weekend!
